From my early work, which integrated language and photographic image, to
my most recent installations I have been continuously dedicated to
experimentation with various media. In the last two years, I explored
the combinatorial possibilities of traditional and digital photography,
video, text, sound and light projections-to construct images and
narratives which relate, transform and transgress each other in a
spatio-temporal dimension. I embrace new technologies to create highly
charged environments in which poetry and critical commentary intermix.
The installation in this exhibition builds metaphors of time and space
and raises ontological questions in relation to virtuality. Virtuality
forces us to re-examine how the real is constituted and re-think
subjectivity and identity. The work as a whole deals with the issues of
visibility/invisibility, physicality/immateriality, presence/absence,
addressing also questions of control, surveillance and censorship. I do
not dichotomize these problematics or reduce them into polarities. On
the contrary, I explore their multiple layers from a range of
perspectives including personal experience, aesthetics, cultural and
critical theory.
